UNILORIN Post-UTME & Direct Entry 2026: Everything you need to know

23 June 2026 209 views UNILORIN

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has officially opened its portal for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME / Direct Entry screening exercise. If you picked UNILORIN as your first-choice institution in the 2026 UTME or through Direct Entry, this is the stage where your admission is actually decided — so it pays to register early and get every detail right.

Here is everything you need to know, taken directly from the official UNILORIN announcement.

Key dates at a glance

  • Registration opens: 00:01, Monday 22 June 2026
  • Registration closes: 23:59, Sunday 5 July 2026
  • Screening (exam) date: Not yet announced — watch your email and the portal

Miss the closing date and you forfeit your admission chance for the session, regardless of your JAMB score. Don't leave it to the final day; the portal gets congested close to the deadline.

Who is eligible

To register, you must:

  • Have chosen UNILORIN as your first-choice institution (UTME or Direct Entry) for 2026/2027.
  • Have scored at least 180 in the 2026 UTME. (This has been UNILORIN's standing minimum; the 2026 instruction sheet doesn't restate a figure, so confirm on the portal.)
  • Hold five (5) O'Level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings for most courses.

For MB;BS (Medicine), Pharmacy, Optometry & Vision Science, and Computer Engineering, only one sitting of O'Level results is accepted.

How admission is scored (the 50/30/20 formula)

UNILORIN does not admit on JAMB score alone. Your offer is based on an aggregate of three parts:

  • UTME / A'Level score — 50%
  • Post-UTME screening score — 30%
  • Five relevant O'Level grades — 20%

Because admission is competitive and ranked by aggregate, there is no fixed "pass mark" for the screening — the higher your combined score, the better your chances. Competitive courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, Law and Engineering require much higher aggregates than less competitive ones.

The fee

The registration fee is ₦2,000.00 only, paid through the Remita platform. Note that you will be charged separately for NIN and O'Level result verification after registration.

What to have ready before you start

Sort these out before you begin so the process runs smoothly:

  • Your National Identification Number (NIN)
  • A valid O'Level Result Checker PIN
  • A personal, active email address (not a third party's)
  • A personal mobile number (not a cybercafé or agent's number)

Your login details and all further communication go to the email and phone number you provide, so make sure they're yours and working.

Step-by-step registration

  1. Go to https://portal.unilorin.edu.ng and click Post-UTME Registration. Do not use any other link.
  2. On the Undergraduate Pre-admission page, click Verify your details.
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration Number, phone number and email address. Your surname and first name appear automatically for confirmation.
  4. Click Verify to proceed to the payment page.
  5. Click Make Payment to go to Remita, select your card type, enter your card details and pay. Don't refresh the browser during payment to avoid double charges.
  6. Your login is sent automatically to your email after successful payment.
  7. Log back in at https://portal.unilorin.edu.ng with your JAMB number and the password from your email.
  8. Click Application, complete all details, verify your NIN (one-time only — make sure your NIN and date of birth are correct), and enter your O'Level details and result-checker PIN.
  9. Crosscheck everything, then click Submit. Print out your screening document and confirm all entries are displayed correctly.

Direct Entry (DE) applicants

Direct Entry candidates apply through the same exercise, portal, fee and deadline as UTME candidates — it is one combined Post-UTME/DE registration. A few points are specific to you:

  • Qualification: You must hold a relevant Direct Entry qualification — such as A'Level, IJMB, JUPEB, NCE, ND/HND or an equivalent — and have selected UNILORIN as your first choice for Direct Entry.
  • O'Level: You still need five (5) relevant O'Level credits (including English and Mathematics). The one-sitting rule applies to MB;BS, Pharmacy, Optometry & Vision Science and Computer Engineering.
  • Same steps, one addition: Follow the full registration procedure above. In addition, DE candidates must select their highest academic qualification from the drop-down, complete all relevant details, and save before submitting.
  • Scoring: For DE candidates, the 50% portion of the aggregate is based on your A'Level / Direct Entry qualification score, combined with the 30% screening score and 20% O'Level grades.

Upgrading from UTME to Direct Entry? Do the upgrade on JAMB CAPS first, before starting on the UNILORIN portal, and make sure the exact DE details are reflected on the UNILORIN portal.

Important rules — don't get disqualified

  • Wrong entries automatically disqualify you. Any error is treated as deliberate falsification and can cost you admission at any stage it's discovered.
  • NIN verification is a one-time process — it cannot be repeated, so get it right the first time.
  • Awaiting results? Indicate "AR" on JAMB CAPS.
  • Changing course? Do it on JAMB CAPS, not the UNILORIN portal — the university downloads CAPS updates until registration closes.
  • At the close of registration, your O'Level details and NIN on the UNILORIN portal must match what's on JAMB CAPS.
  • For payment issues, use Confirm your Payment on the Pre-admission page with your JAMB number to validate.

Who is exempted from the screening

  • Candidates who applied from outside Nigeria are exempted from the Post-UTME screening test but will be screened after admission.
  • Candidates with disabilities — including the blind, deaf, mute, autistic, amputees, those who are lame or paralysed, and those with Down syndrome, Dyslexia, ADHD, albinism, cerebral palsy or disfigurement — are exempted from the screening test.

About the screening exam

UNILORIN runs the Post-UTME as a computer-based test (CBT) at its CBT centre. The 2026 screening date has not yet been published — candidates should monitor their registered email and the official portal for the schedule, venue, and reporting guidelines once registration closes. Phones and other gadgets are not allowed in the hall, and the university enforces a dress code.

How to prepare

  • Register early and review every entry before submitting.
  • Keep your JAMB slip, O'Level results and payment receipt handy.
  • Practise past questions and timed CBT mocks across your four UTME subjects.
  • Check the portal and your email regularly so you don't miss the screening date.
