Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria has opened registration for its 2026/2027 UTME/DE Screening Exercise. Candidates who applied to ABU for the 2026/2027 session can now register online, with the exercise having started on Monday, 6th July 2026, according to a Special Bulletin from the university's Public Affairs Directorate.
Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know.
Who Is Eligible
- UTME candidates need a score of 180 or above to register for the Screening Exercise.
- Direct Entry (DE) candidates don't need a minimum score — they only need to pay the screening fee and complete registration.
How to Register
- Visit the portal. Go to portal.abu.edu.ng/forms, or head to abu.edu.ng and click "2026/2027 UTME/DE Screening Registration."
- Pay the fee. Registration costs ₦2,000. Pay online with a debit/ATM card, or print a transaction slip and pay at any commercial bank — no need to travel to Zaria.
- Confirm your subject combination. Check the ABU brochure at portal.abu.edu.ng/forms/putme. Wrong combination? You can switch to a more appropriate programme on the JAMB portal.
- Upload your documents. You'll need scanned copies of your JAMB result, O'Level result(s) (max 2 sittings) and/or A'Level certificate, Indigene Certificate, NIN, and Birth Certificate.
- Enter your O'Level grades. Input grades for the 5 O'Level subjects relevant to your programme, as listed in the brochure. Still waiting on results? ABU says to hold off rather than guess — falsifying entries can lead to disqualification.
Why You Shouldn't Skip This
ABU's bulletin is direct on this point: candidates who fail to complete the Screening Exercise will not be eligible for admission, regardless of their UTME score.
